GALBRAITH, CATHERINE (KAY) B. - The death of Catherine (Kay) Galbraith (nee Reid), 87, of Moncton, wife of J. Harvey Galbraith (deceased), occurred peacefully on Saturday afternoon July 07, 2012 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre. Born in Moncton N.B. she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Rae) Reid and Leslie Reid. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mary and Frank Seaman. She is survived by her son Glenn (Dorothy), grandchildren Christopher (Jo-Ann), and Craig (Laura) and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Madison, Darah and Kaylah and sister Shirley MacLeod (Bob). She was predeceased by son Gordon, brothers Jack Reid (Barbara), Harold Reid (Nan), sisters Margaret Colburne (Howard), Jean Lewis (Jerry). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews with whom she shared many happy memories. She joined the RCAF (WD) where she met her husband Harvey and returned to Moncton to raise a family. She was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Rebekah Lodge, joining in 1950 and serving as Noble Grand. Kay and Harvey enjoyed many winters in Largo, Florida and summers in Grand-Digue, N.B. and during their retirement. She also enjoyed many vacations to various locations in the Dominican Republic and Cuba. She celebrated 60 years of marriage to Harvey in July 2006. Special thanks to Ron and Fern MacLeod, Donna Butler and Susan Leighton for their love and support of their Aunt Kay over the years. Many thanks to the nurses and staff of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and caring. She was truly a special person to many people.
Services will be held at the Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton on Monday, July 16, 2012 with a gathering at 12:30 PM. A Royal Canadian Legion service will be held at 1:50 PM with the funeral service at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. No flowers by request but remembrances to the charity or organization of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
