It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Eric MacNeil, announce his passing. Eric passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay Eric was the son of the late Donald John and Margaret MacNeil.
Eric was employed with Devco retiring after 38 years of service. After retirement he was a volunteer for EAP for Devco for four years. The past five years he was a resident of Inverary Manor, Inverness.
Eric is survived by his son, Robert (Brenda), grandchildren, Kevin (Roberta), Lindsay (A.J.); daughter, Sandra (Donnie), grandchildren, Patrick (Shelley), Laurie, Dawn and Eric; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice (Dan Cote) and Leone; sisters-in-law, Judith, Lillian, Delores; brothers-in-law, Joe and Raymond.
Besides his parents Eric was predeceased by his wife, Colleen; brother, Bernie; sister, Jean; brother-in-law, Lou Buckland; granddaughters, Mary Colleen and Angela Marie, in infancy.
Visitation for Eric MacNeil will be held Monday 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, Port Morien with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will follow St. Mary's Cemetery, Black Brook.
