It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather and friend, Dave Carew, 64, on July 14, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded with love by his best friend, Pauline.
Born in Florence, he was a son of the late Dan and Edna (LeBlanc) Carew.
Dave will be sadly missed by his loving friend, Pauline Aucoin and her mother, Martha Gillis, New Waterford; daughter, Rebalee (Jason) Parking, sons, Dave (Kim) and Darcy, all of Ontario; former spouse, Mary Carew, Ontario; best buddy and grandson, Dalton; granddaughter, Jayda; grandsons, Tristan and Logan; brothers, Pat, Campbell River, B.C., Ralph, Point Edward; sister, Betty Collier, Ross Ferry; Pauline’s children, Robert (Patricia) Aucoin, Denise (Brian) McLeod, Kimberly (Jason) Hennessey, Eric Aucoin; and six beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Burke, Dominic, Maria, Katelyn and Abbey.
Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, John.
As per Dave’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A luncheon for family and friends to celebrate Dave’s life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 83, 610 Bras d’Or Rd., Florence on Thursday, July 19 at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the An Cala palliative care unit or the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
