PICTOU LANDING ROAD – Carol “Lynn” MacDougall, 65, of Pictou Landing Road, Trenton, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2012 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Dorothy (White) Haslam.
She worked at the Royal Bank in Stellarton and New Glasgow for 22 years and made many life-long friends. Lynn and her husband Don were active members of the Abercrombie Golf and Country Club and enjoyed wintering in Florida with many of their golfing friends. Reading a good book and redecorating her home of 33 years also kept her busy. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and regaling everyone with wonderful stories and family lore that she somehow remembered in perfect detail. Her zest for life, for her family and for her friends was one of a kind and she will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don C. MacDougall; her children: Don (Susan) MacDougall and their children Heather, Allison and Elizabeth of Wellesley, Mass.; Kenda (Colin) Murray and their children Eric and Jillian of Vancouver, BC; Ashley (Sarah) MacDougall and their children Emily and Wyatt of Mission, BC; brothers: Bill (Cathy) Haslam; Jim (Debbie) Haslam; Hank (Judy) Haslam; David (Susan) Haslam; brother-in-law Ken (Leta) MacDougall; sister-in-law Bonnie Matheson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home in New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 at the First United Church in Trenton with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to recognize Lynn may donate to the IWK Health Centre Foundation in Halifax.
