John Stordy
STORDY, JOHN L. - John L. Stordy, 89, of Monarch Hall, Riverview and formerly of York St., Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday July 16, 2012, following a lengthy illness. Born in Crapaud, PEI, he was the son of the late G. Russell and Alma (Myers) Stordy. John was a self employed insurance agent for Canadian Foresters Life Insurance and owned his own business, John L. Stordy Insurance at 130 St. George St. for many years, before he merged with Langham & West Insurance. He was a dedicated member of Wesley Memorial United Church, a long time member of the Church Board and an active member of the Church Men’s Club until its closure and he then became a member of St. John’s United Church. John was honored by the Moncton Canadian Foresters and friends for more than 40 years volunteer service to their organization and other community groups, such as the Canadian Cancer Society, church work, the United Way and was involved in the Moncton Foresters bowling and curling and other numerous functions for the organization. He had a love for Cadillac cars and was a loyal supporter since his first purchase in 1953. John will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary R. (Stewart); daughters, Elizabeth-Ann Bartlett (Pike) of Maine, Carolyn Floyd (Ken) of Sault Ste Marie, ON, Mary-Lee Stordy of Moncton; sons, John (Natalie) of Grande Digue, Brian (Heather) of Moncton, Gary (Julie) of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Jonathan, Stephanie, Amanda and Jennifer Floyd, John and Anne Bartlett, Alexandre and Danielle Stordy, Alicia and Samantha Stordy, Lucas Guimond and Emma-Rose Stordy; several nieces and nephews. John was godfather to Ross Dunnett and Cynthia (Dunnett) Barbosa. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Lyman and sister, Kathleen Fulton. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Monarch Hall for their special care given to John.

Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 20, 2012, 1:30 pm, Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
