Harold Gordon Anderson was born in North Sydney on July 3, 1945 to the late Edgar and Dulicie Anderson. He died peacefully on the evening of July 10, 2012, at home of liver cancer with wife and two sons present.
He worked most of his life as the owner/operator of MacSween’s Dairy on Alexandra Street. He was active in politics in the Progressive Conservative, the Reform Party and the Conservative Party of Canada. He enjoyed hunting with friends and family. He was an avid reader, enjoyed music, was a great listener and enjoyed conversations with his family, friends and a variety of people.
He is survived by wife, Gloria Dawn (Gould) of New Brunswick; sons, Guy Leslie (Tara) (son of Barbara Ann), Texas, Scott Edward and Mark Phillip of Sydney; grandchildren, John Leslie, Trinity Lynn and Matthew Harold, Texas; mother-in-law, Barbara MacSween, Celtic Court; one brother, Ralph Anderson (Alice), Baddeck; several brothers and sisters-in-law with nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by parents, Edgar and Dulicie Anderson North Sydney; his wife, Barbara Ann (MacSween) and daughter, Lynn Margaret; father-in-law, Leslie MacSween; mother-in-law, Jessie Gould and father-in-law, Ralph Gould.
There will be a private afternoon committal service officiated by Pastor Sheldon Chant of Chant Funeral Home in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A Service of Thankfulness will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church on the corner of George Street and Brooklyn Street on Tuesday evening July 24, 2012 at p.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Bethel Presbyterian Church or to Palliative Care of the CBRH, Sydney would be suggested.
