Passed on: July 16th, 2012

Bruce Alan Rafuse - 53, of Wolfville, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was the beloved son of the late Clifford and Eileen Rafuse, New Minas. He received his education in the plumbing trade from King Regional Vocational School and worked for a short time as an apprentice. His real love was the railway. Bruce worked for CPR and later for Windsor Hantsport Railway. He had many cherished memories of times spent at Little River Lake with long time friends in winter and in summer. He loved snowmobiling on his Polaris, fishing and hunting. He had a great sense of humor and was easy to get to know. Whether it had been yesterday or five years since you last saw him he treated everyone the same. Always appreciative of human kindness, he passed human kindness on where ever he could. He fought his 2½ year fight with cancer in a manner that is inspirational to all who knew and loved him. Bruce faced all his challenges with dignity, and good humor, and most of all he never gave up making plans and looking forward to the next day. He had many dreams for the future. Sadly some did not come to pass. He is survived by a daughter, Brittlyn, Halifax; his friend, Jackie Gifford, Wolfville; siblings, Ivan Rafuse, Greenwich; Patricia (Fern) Levesque, Richmond, B.C.; Dwight (Cheryl) Rafuse, Phinney Cove; Catherine (Alvin) Burgess, Coldbrook and Cheryl (Randy) Boyd, Greenwich; sister-in-law, Theresa Hatchard, Wolfville; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and twin brother and sister, Paul and Paulette in infancy and most recently in 2011 by his brother, Carmen. Memorial donations may be made to your local Food Bank or Palliative Care Unit. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the nurses for their care and support on his journey. Cremation has taken place. Bruce requested that no funeral service be held. A private family burial was held at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
