McCulley, Nathan Emmerson – 86 of Baxter’s Harbour Kings Co. passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Baxter’s Harbour, he was the son of the late George & Alice (Schofield) McCulley. Affectionately known as “Nathan”, “Hon”, “Dad”, “Grampie”, “Papa” and “Uncle Nathan”. He lived a full life, filled with family and friends. He began working over 77 years ago with his father on the farm and went to the woods for $1.00 a day cutting wood. Later he fished and then worked on the highway for 35 years. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Baxter’s Harbour and in recent years attended the Salvation Army. In 1948 he married Rachel Johnson, & they made their home in Baxter’s Harbour. Nathan will now be reunited with Rachel the love of his life. Surviving are his daughters, Maxine Theriault, Berwick; and Sandra Burton, Kitchener, Ontario; sons, Dwight, Red Deer, Alberta and Dwayne, Baxter’s Harbour; brother, Carl, Baxter’s Harbour; sisters, Dorothy (Charlie) Barkhouse, Windsor; Gertrude (Paul) Compeau, Brockville, Ontario and Elizabeth (Bud) Rafuse, Sheffield Mills; sisters- in-law, Irene and Helen McCulley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rachel; daughter, Theresa; daughter in law, Heather McCulley; granddaughter, Emily Ann; brothers, Wesley, Wylie, Nelson, Joe and Harold; sisters, Laura Martin, Lola Schofield & Sadie Heaslip. The late Nathan McCulley is resting in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook (Exit 14), where visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Friday. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday July 21, in the First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Canard. Rev. Robert Cross officiating. Interment took place in the Canard Burial Ground, Canard.
