Passed in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: July 22nd, 2012
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at home.
Born to parents, the late Theresa and Vincent Strojsa, she lived most of her life in Glace Bay.
She was a member of St. Anthony parish and held a strong faith which carried her through her life. She strongly believed in the power of prayer. Mary devoted her life to her children, family, friends and charities. She was the golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives. Mary took great pleasure in the accomplishments of all her family. Those whose lives she touched will remember her as a strong lady who willingly opened her arms and her heart and put everyone at ease with her warm smile and keen sense of humour.
Left to mourn her are her children, Fred (Barbara) Denney, Sydney, John (Marie) Burke, Chester Basin, Kathleen Burke-MacDonald (Dan) Fort McMurray, Alta., Barry (at home), Nancy (Paul) Hines, Dartmouth; sister, Fran (Rod) McIsaac, Hastings; brothers, Vincent Strojsa, Glace Bay, Stephen Strojsa, Toronto; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three World Vision foster children; godchild, Andrea, and honorary family Wilma and Wayne MacAulay.
She was predeceased by husbands, Fred Denney Sr. and John L. Burke, daughter, Heather Hodder, sister, Helen Simpson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Curry’s Funeral Home, Main Street, Glace Bay.
To honour Mary’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or CNIB would be appreciated.
God’s arms are open wide, go home in peace.
