Nancy Neal of Northport, NY, U.S.A., passed away July 12, 2012, after suffering with Alzheimer's disease for the past five years. Nancy and her husband Alden Hooper Neal, whose mother Ada Hooper was born and raised on the Island, summered at their cottage in Gordon Cove, Chelton, for nearly 25 years. After many years of research, Nancy completed a book in 2006 about her husband's ancestry entitled, "A United Empire Loyalist Family, The Life and Times of Thomas Hooper of Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, and his Descendents 1734-2004" (Clint Morrison, Cresent Island Publishers, Summerside). Many copies of the book were sold to residents of the Summerside area. Nancy had many fond memories of P.E.I. She loved the serene countryside, the beautiful strait, picking strawberries and other fruits, entertaining friends in their waterside cottage and participating in many activities at the Bedeque United Church.
