CHURCH, Eileen "Megan" - 88, of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, in the VG Site, QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born on September 13, 1923 she was the daughter of the late John Frank and Lulu Elizabeth (Duffy) Jones. Megan was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Churchill, Manitoba and Past Grand Matron of the Eastern Star. She was the Past Matron of Fairfield Chapter No. 22 of Windsor and Past Grand Matron in both N.S. and P.E.I. Megan was a member of Windsor United Baptist Church and served as a church choir director and directed a male choir for 20 years. She was also a member of the St. Paul's Anglican Mission in Churchill. Megan was the mother of six sons and enjoyed crafts and knitting. She worked as a secretary of Ports Canada until retirement. Megan was also a Serving Sister in the Order of St. John Ambulance and in 1977, she was awarded the Commemorative Medal on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty the Queen to the throne, in appreciation of her worthy and devoted service throughout her life and the esteem in which she was held by her associates. Megan is survived by her sons, Robert Lee (Faye), Kentville; Terry Gordon (Gayle), St. Catherine's, Ont.; James Kenneth, Fall River; Donald Lloyd (Sandi), Halifax; Roy William (Carol), Dartmouth; Gene Alan (Janice), Calgary, Alta.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Jones, Dartmouth. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Cyril Jones. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There was no visitation, by request. The Eastern Star conducted a tribute service followed immediately by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, July 27, in Windsor United Baptist Church, 411 King St., Windsor, Rev. Jeffrey White officiated. A reception was held in the church hall following the service. A private family burial was held in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth. Family flowers only, were by request.
