RICE, Rita Mae – 93, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday afternoon, July 27, 2012, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born August 1, 1918, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ethel (Crowe) Fielding. She worked at Belvedere Hotel in Truro and then Rita and her late husband, Frank, owned and operated “The Coffee Cup” restaurant in Ontario for many years. She and Frank enjoyed camping and also going to yard sales. She will be remembered as a great baker and her family and friends will miss the baked goodies she used to make, especially the bread. Rita is survived by her sons, Ken Blair, Truro; Fred (Anne) Blair, Brookfield; daughters, Shirley Blair, Brantford, Ontario; Maxine Jollimore, River John; granddaughter, Kelley Blair, Brookfield; sisters, Sheila (Joseph) Callaghan, Hazel Delaney, Barbara Atkinson, all of Truro; Julia Blackmore, Bass River; brother, Jack Fielding, Truro; aunt, Celia Lynds, Truro; sister-in-law, Louise Fielding, Truro; brother-in-law, James Waller, Bible Hill; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis Forbes “Frank” Rice; sister, Marilyn Waller; brothers, Sherman Fielding, Fred Fielding, Russell Fielding. She was also predeceased by her canine companion, Bandit. All are welcome to attend a graveside interment service at 4 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, at Onslow Island Cemetery, Onslow, The Reverend Gary Yetman officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory to SPCA are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
