Passed in: New Wateford, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: July 28th, 2012

Richard ‘Rickey’ Allen Rizzato, 47, of Ling Street, New Waterford, formerly of Roaches Road, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Born in New Waterford, Rickey was the son of Virginia (Ling) Rizzato and the late Nufrio Rizzato.
Although Rickey’s death was sudden and came as a shock to all of us, we know in our hearts that he would want us to remember our favourite moments we all spent with him.
Rickey was a very special person, his good qualities were endless. He touched so many lives. But most importantly, Rickey was a true friend; always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Whether it was playing cards, games or just chatting with family and friends, Rickey enjoyed every minute of everyday, always there to celebrate, no matter what the occasion, anywhere and anytime.
He was the kind of person who could make you laugh and cry at the same time with his wacky sense of humour. As friends would say, ‘We need a Rickey,’ because he was always full of life. He passed on his positive attitude to everyone he met. Rickey was a hero to all of us!
Rickey was a graduate of Breton Education Centre.
Besides his mother Virginia, Rickey is survived by two brothers, Bernie (Elaine), Dino (Marilyn), both in New Waterford; his girlfriend, Sheila and her daughter, Crystal (Ryan); nieces and nephews, Shannon, Matthew, Allan, Rebecca; school buddies, Wayne and Russell and many cousins.
Rickey was predeceased by his father, Nufrio Rizzato in 1997.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The reception will take place at the Army/Navy Airforce Hall.
As an expression of sympathy for Rickey, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the CNIB or a charity of one’s choice.
