Margaret E. ‘Pecky’ Smith, 94, Keating Court, Antigonish, formerly of Sydney, passed away Jan. 9, 2010, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Baldwin) Peck.
Pecky loved skating. She was known for her knitting and was an avid bingo and tarabish player. Shortly after arriving in Antigonish in 1977, she became involved with the Welcome Wagon program. She was a past president of Club 60.
Surviving are children, Frank (Mary Mader), Dartmouth, Ray (Dorothy Parsons), Sydney, Margo, Antigonish, Maurice (Jane Lancaster), Antigonish; brother, Maurice Peck, Sydney; grandchildren, Danny (Susan), Cathy Ross (Blair), Michael (Stacey), Paul, Raelene Wilkie (David), Steven (Allison), Rob Monk, Sean (Kelly) Monk; 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, sons, Patrick Joseph and John Arthur, sisters, Sr. Mary Irene, CSM, Sr. Catherine Hugh, CSM, Sr. Georgeanne CSM, Cecelia, Blanche, Carrie Florence, Jane, Dorothy Faye in infancy, brothers John, Joe, George and Clifton.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral mass at 2 p.m. in St. Ninian’s Cathedral with Rev. Tom MacNeil presiding.
