It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Benson Purdie, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on June 3, 1956, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jean Purdie. He was a member of St. Pius X parish.
John was known as “Mr. Fix it”, in his spare time he could always be found taking things apart and putting them back together.
John is survived by his wife, Suzanne Donovan; his two sons, Michael and Morgan. Brothers, Paul, Kevin, Gordon and Joseph and sisters, Pauline, Arthena and Catherine.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by sisters, Jean and Patricia.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass to celebrate John’s life will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
