Terrance 'Terry' Gould
Born In: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: August 4th, 1965
Passed in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: July 25th, 2012
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Terrence Gould, 46, of Pickering, Ont., on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Toronto East General Hospital. Following a brief yet courageous battle with cancer, Terry was surrounded by family and friends, then with his loving wife Kelly Takata Gould by his side, passed into eternal life.
Born Aug. 4, 1965 in Sydney, N.S., he was the son of the late Charles and Annie Bridget Gould (Basque) of Eskasoni.
Terry is survived by his wife Kelly and their two children, who meant the world to him, four year old Katie and two year old John ‘Beezer’. He was also loved and cherished by special nephew, Justin Takata; son, Simon Gould; brothers, Charlie, Ronnie, Billy (Rita), John (Vera) and Hubert (Connie); sisters, Marjorie (Stan) Johnson, Jessie (Frankie) Gould, Mary Ellen (Blair) Paul and Anita (Esmond) Marshall; aunt and godmother, Janie (Roddie) Gould; aunt, Mary Ellen Hopkins; in-laws, John and Janet Takata; brothers-in-law, Andy (Cheri) Takata and James (Sylvie) Takata; numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and other friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Annie Gould, brothers Ryan and Noel (Acho) Joseph, and a brother in infancy.
His brothers and sisters remember Terry in his youth as an all-star centerfielder, a volunteer for the bingo games and as a grounds keeper at the St. Anne Mission in Chapel Island. He also attended the annual pilgrimage to Ste. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec. Terry was known to be a skilled labourer and painter in Eskasoni. In the late 1990s, he relocated to Toronto, Ont. and was employed with Trouble Shooters Plumbing and Drains for more than 10 years working his way up from general labourer to head foreman. He was a highly valued employee and will be greatly missed by his coworkers and regular customers. Following his semi-retirement earlier this year, Terry devoted much time travelling to tropical destinations with his family, photography, working on his golf game and attending art auctions to add to his native art collection.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the ICU at the Toronto East General Hospital for the compassionate care shown to Terry.
Visitation for the late Terrence Gould will take place after 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at the Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Cremation to follow.
