Well Known Truro Business Woman Passes Away
TAM, Leona Beatrice – 57, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday afternoon, July 30, 2012, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born December 31, 1954, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Beatrice (Mae) Chapman. Leona, along with her husband, Peter, owned and operated The China Rose Café for over 20 years. In her spare time, she loved to garden and also play computer games. She cherished time spent with her family and her family will hold those special memories in their hearts forever. Leona is survived by her loving husband, Peter Shui-Man Tam; daughter, Tina Chapman, Truro; grandchildren, Mitchell Elliott, Marissa Elliott, Miranda Elliott and their father, Michael “Mike” Elliott, Truro; siblings, George (Nancy), Geraldine, Gail (Eddie), Lloyd, Eldon (Sandra), Doreen (Norman), Shirley, Esther, David, Donna, Nova (Nick); numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Ryan Chapman. (2011) Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Leona’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., today, August 2, 2012, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2012, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. Family flowers only.
