TREEN: Viola Margaret Treen (Vi) was born on August 2. 1929 in Bateman, SK and passed away July 27, 2012 at the Swift Current Care Centre. She was the twelfth child of Frank and Catharine Gattinger. Vi married Gerald Treen December 19, 1948, sharing his life for 63 years. Vi is survived by her husband Gerald, daughter Dianne (Rizqi) Ibrahim, granddaughter Kristie (Fabrice) Marandola, great granddaughters Justine and Amelie: granddaughter Janelle Ibrahim; daughter Geraldine Treen (Rob Kruse) granddaughters Sasha Regier, Alysa Treen; son Darrin (Jacqualine) Treen, grandchildren Kailey, Rebecca, Timothy. Sisters Irene Dokkebakken, Phyllis Keller, brother John (Danny) Gattinger., sister in law Anne Gattinger. brothers-in-law Clayton (Ruby) Treen. Harold (Jan) Treen, sisters-in-law Gwen (Rob) Mackie, June Treen many niece and nephews. Vi was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Catharine, brothers: Frank, Henry (Ann), Bill (Pricilla), Jake. sisters: Mary (Adolf), Carrie (Ervin) Susie (Bill), Dorothy. brothers-in-law Shirl Dokkebakken, John Keller. mother and father-in-law Bertha and Louis Treen, brothers-in-law Glen & Russell Treen, sister-in-law Dorothy (John)Paton. Following graduation from High school in Bateman, Vi took a business course in Moose Jaw . She later moved to Gull Lake where she worked as a telephone operator and where she met Gerald. Gerald and Vi moved to Swift Current in 1951 where they remained and raised their family. Vi worked with Gerald in the meat business for many years until her health retired her. She loved being with people and was very friendly with customers. Vi was a classy lady with a quick step. She was always well dressed, clipping along quickly in her high heels. She was known for her warm smile, bright eyes and generous nature. She had a zest for life and energy that never seemed to run out. She loved her family and took great pride in their accomplishments. Vi was a life master at duplicate bridge, She loved dancing to the end with her favorite partner Gerald. The funeral service was held August 2, 2012 at Mt Calvary Luthern Church, Pastor Brad Julien officiated. Interment Memory Garden Cemetery. Donations in memory of Vi may be directed to the Swift Current Care Center Auxillary , the Prairie Pioneer Lodge Auxillary or a charity of your choice.
