Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at the age of 91. Predeceased by her beloved husband Albert in 1978, her sisters, Margaret Huck and Mary Hill and her brothers Thomas, Gerard, Edward and Austin. She leaves to remember and celebrate her life her daughter and son-in-law Katie and John Lawton; her grandchildren: Rosemary and Keith; her sister Katherine Harrington; her step-children: Peggy Walthier, Joan Pickles, Leonard Martin, Marty Southcott and their families. Also remembering her are her many nieces and nephews and their families. She so enjoyed their visits as they shared their lives with her. Loretta will be remembered by her many dear friends including those with whom she played bridge and mahjong and those from her volunteer activities with the St. Clare's Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, the Catholic Women's League, the IODE, Newfoundland Symphony Guild and NONIA. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Sunday and Monday, August 5 and 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held from St. Pius X Church, Smithville Crescent at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7 with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road.
