James SHADOW
Dad was in Sechelt, BC on the Sunshine Coast for the last ten days before he took a fall and died two days later. He was in Sechelt being cared for by his daughter, Shelley, as he had cancer and was quite fragile. He had been living in Cloverdale, BC in the lower mainland since 2007. He was born in Saskatchewan in 1928, the second of four brothers. He came to Vancouver in 1947, trying his hand on the tug boats and mining before he eventually found his way north and became a cat skinner on the oil fields. He also liked to build and invent things, and made a one man sawmill, which he used to build our family home, and a steamer he operated under Shadow Enterprises. He raised six kids with Ivy in the Fort St. John area. He was predeceased by his son, Rodney, in 1997, and leaves to mourn his remaining five children, Susan (Al) Wale, Myrna Bennett, Doreen (Lyle), Conrad, and Shelley (John) Jankola. He will also be missed by his thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A family service was held in Gibsons, BC on June 28, 2012, with burial at Seaview Cemetary.
