She is survived by her loving children: daughter Barb (Leo) Ford of Victoria and son Dave (Kim) Kuz of Nanoose Bay; granddaughters Jenifer (Cameron) Sterling of Vancouver and Stephanie Kuz of Nanoose Bay; brothers Alec (Sharon), George (Marie), Bob (Ann), Jake (Gloria) and Johnny (Joanne), sisters Barb (Bob) Baldwin, Lena (George) Stacey, Adeline ((Tony) Paslowski and Mabel (George) Repaye; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by her special friends, in particular Anne, Margaret, Laureen, Sandy and Rita.
She was predeceased by her parents Wasyl & Ann Leniuk, brothers Mike, Dan and Edward, and sisters Dolly Molnar, Mary Woroniuk, Doris Stacey, Margaret Reutky and Katherine Spytz.
Helen was born in Rama, Saskatchewan. She married Nick Kuz on October 22, 1949 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and shortly afterward they moved to Kamloops, B.C. She was a very hard working woman, managing to raise two children while working at places like Woolworth's, the tomato cannery, Paramount Theatre & Skyway Drive-In and Blue Ribbon Cleaners. She became an accomplished seamstress, working at Ideal Custom Tailors and eventually continuing her trade by working from home.
Her interests included reading, gardening, cooking, sewing and card playing. Her family and friends meant the world to her and her constant supply of baked goods, homemade cooking, sewing projects and other special treats were always much appreciated. She loved to play crib and her sharp mind allowed her to play right up to her final days. For over 20 years, weekly games were played with brother and sister-in-law Tony & Anne Kuz, and family friend Pete Shmyr.
The family wishes to thank the staff at RIH and the Hospice Home for their compassion and care.
No service at Helen's request.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Cres. South, Kamloops, BC, V2E 2S9, in Helen's memory would be appreciated.
