Doroth "Dot" Lowry
LOWRY, DOROTHY “DOT” G. - On Saturday, August 4, 2012, family and friends were deeply saddened by the passing of Dorothy “Dot” G. Lowry, 84, of K.E. Spencer Memorial Home. Dorothy, fondly known as “Dot” was the eldest daughter of F. Douglas and Harriette (King) Milburn. Dot received her early education at King George and Aberdeen Schools and graduated from Moncton High School in 1945 and Provincial Normal School (Teacher’s College) in 1946. Prior to her marriage in 1950, she taught at Scotch Settlement School, Hopewell Cape and McQuade’s. Following her marriage to Robert Lowry, Dot devoted her life to raising her five children. As a youngster, she faithfully attended Central United Church, sang in the choir and followed her father’s steps teaching Sunday school. Anyone in difficulty could count on Dot’s empathy, a woman of great strength of character. Her spiritual faith was strong and unshaken and those who knew Dot have no doubt about the existence of life beyond this earthly world. Left to cherish Dot’s memory are daughters, Norma Pittman (John), Celina Calvert (Tony), Bobbie Kervin (Ron), Cathy Lowry (Winston) and John (Patrina); precious grandchildren, Patricia, John Robert, Jason and Jennifer; precious great grand daughter, Brooke; sisters, Marjorie Potter and Sandra Easton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lowry; sisters, Corrine and Betty. Dot will be remembered by many acquaintances connected with Renewal Fellowship. Also left to cherish Dot’s memory is Norma Pippey, a long time true friend since Grade one who stood by Dot through the good and bad times. As well as her “adopted grandchildren,” Cathy and Joanne and several other caregivers whose friendship helped make her days more content.
