Doris Elizabeth Fraser - 91, formerly of New Minas, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born on August 30, 1920 in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Kathleen (Kane) Brown. She had been employed with Moir’s Chocolates in Bedford, the Post Office in Gaspereau, Hostess Foods and Towers Department Store in New Minas. She volunteered with the V.O.N., was a longtime member of the Gems and Jewels Seniors Group in Gaspereau and was a foster care mother to many children. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by daughters, Anna Fraser, Dartmouth; Marlene (Greg) Allen, Hantsport; son, John “Jack” (Linda), New Minas; sisters, Gladys Davidson, Wolfville and Mary (Howard) Coldwell, Gaspereau; sisters-in-law, Frances Morrison, Windsor and Beverley Brown, Greenwich; aunt, Elizabeth Joudrey, Wolfville; grandchildren, Brian (Cindy Drury) Fraser, Alison Fraser, Bethany (Matthew) Kossatz, Robert Barron, Peter Smith and Danielle Smith; 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, David J. Fraser; infant daughter, Mary; sister, Shirley Schofield; brothers, Frank, Joe, Don and Murray. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Father Craig Cameron officiating. Burial took place in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ridge Road, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses.
