DOUCET, Leona Yvonne – 92, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, and formerly of Quinan, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 in the Villa. Born April 26, 1920 in Quinan, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Ozilda (Doucette) Doucet. Leona worked as the housekeeper at St. Ambrose rectory in Yarmouth for a number of years, having also worked with the housekeeping departments at the Holiday Inn in Montreal and the Lakeside Inn in Dayton. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and she will be remembered as being very devout in her Catholic faith. Leona was a truly giving and charitable woman, always putting others ahead of herself. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and is survived by a niece, Gertrude (Kenneth) Doucette, as well as by grand nephews, Andrew (April) and Justin, as well as by great grand nephew, Zander and great grand niece, Kennedy, and several cousins. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Bernard Doucette and Wilfred Doucette. Visitation took place from 7-9 Sunday evening, with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 6 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac Foundation or to St. Agnes Church.
