MURRAY – Albert Christopher, passed away Wednesday, August 8th at the Swift Current Care Centre in Swift Current, Saskatchewan at the age of 92. Albert was born in Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan, January 23rd, 1920. Predeceased by his parents William and Helen Murray; sisters Charlotte, Annabelle, Rose and Pearl and brothers Fred, Walter, Charles, Kenneth, Tom and Henry. Albert is survived by his sister Kay (Bill) Keith of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Albert worked in the Maple Creek and Golden Prairie areas in a variety of jobs before moving to Regina where he began his career, that would become his passion, as Greens Keeper at Flowing Springs Golf Course in Regina. Albert was a fixture at Flowing Springs since it was built in the early 1960’s. In 1978 the course was purchased by Loney and Bunni Anderson and Albert became Greens Keeper. With his passion for the course and his love of the game and with the help of his dogs, particularly Scotty, Albert became the best gopher exterminator a golfer could ever ask for. Albert retired in 2005 at the age of 85 years. Albert was a friend, mentor and golf coach to many golfers both young and old at Flowing Springs and it was this person that so many of us will fondly remember and miss. Albert spent his winters enjoying the past-time of golf in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island where his personality and friendship endeared him to another complete group of friends and golfers. In his short retirement he was to find his final student of the game, Jesse. A young man who became Albert’s dearest friend and student until his death. At Albert’s request no funeral will be held but at a later date a celebration of Albert’s life will be hosted at Flowing Springs Golf Course. Those wishing to attend should email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1-306-530-0394 so that the details can be sent to you when a date is chosen. Special Thanks to Lil Rognstad, Lesley Kowbel, Jesse, Trudy and Terry Lacher for helping Albert in his later years, your efforts and friendship were appreciated. Albert‘s advice to everyone was to “Be Happy” and friends and family can take comfort in the fact that Albert will now always be Happy!
