Brian Pyke
Passed in: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: August 8th, 2012
On Aug. 8, 2012, I was getting ready to celebrate my daughter’s birthday instead we are mourning the loss of the one true love of my life, my husband Brian Pyke.
At the young age of 14, I met Brian, we went on to get married and have three children, Dennis (Krissy), Scott (Marika) and our daughter, Ashley. We have seven beautiful grandsons, who Brian adored and tormented daily; Bramwell, Bradlee, Ben, Parker, Donnie Scott, Cole, Max and our only granddaughter, who was the only girl he got, RoseAnna ‘Rosie Posie.’
A man of many talents, Brian was what you would call the “neighbourhood fix-it man” always there to lend a helping hand. He had a way with people and could always get a laugh out of them.
For the past few years Brian was a member of Local 92 Ft. McMurray. He made many trips out to “The Fort” for work and made a lot of friends out west who will miss him.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and friend.
Brian was born in North Sydney on Dec. 26, 1953, the only son of Leslie ‘Peter’ and Ruth (Best) Pyke of North Sydney.
He was the only brother to Yvonne (Lawrence) Bailey, Karen Pyke (Greg), who loved their brother dearly; and then there’s me, Brian’s wife of 35 years, the former Joanne Gillis Pyke. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rose Anne Gillis; sisters-in-law, Karen Quirk (Rick), Marlene, Wanda Davis (George), Carol Beaulieu (Jim), Patricia MacIsaac (Steven), Vickie Mansfield (Mel) and brother-in-law, Blair Gillis.
Brian was predeceased by his grandparents, Henry and Christine Pyke and George and Mary Best and by his father-in-law, Howard Gillis.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service for Brian will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. John Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Debbie Strickland officiating. Cremation will follow.
