BALL, JAN "CHRISTIAN" - September 8, 1972 - August 2, 2012 - Christian Ball of Calgary, Alberta passed away tragically on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton at the age of 39 years. Christian is survived by his mother Lindsay and her husband Patrick O'Dwyer of Eagle Bay, BC; his father Kenneth Ball and his wife Lise of Summerland, BC; his brother Jonathan Ball and sister-in-law Mikie Mork of Okotoks; his sister Lauren and brother-in-law Andrew Upper of Mission, BC, a niece Kristian Upper and twin nephews Arran and Matthew Upper. He was predeceased by his beloved grandmother Rosamond Duggan in 1996, and grandmother Winnifred (Nye) Ball Cotter in 1985. Chris moved to Calgary from Hampton N.B. with his family in 1980. He attended Midnapore Elementary School, Elboya Junior High and graduated from Western Canada High school. He later attended Mount Royal College and graduated from Simon Fraser University with a BA in Criminology in 1998. In December, 2011 Chris joined Weatherford Canada in the Drilling Services Division, with involvement in the drilling of horizontal and directional oil and gas wells. Chris' life was multi-facetted. Chris was extremely creative, enjoying all kinds of art work, building, interior design, costume creations and funky mementoes from places he visited. He loved working on his various cars, especially his 1967 Pontiac Acadian which was his first car purchased at 15 and his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Chris was a great friend to all those who knew him both past and present and was a special pal to his beloved big white dog Roxy. He was a "spark" in this world and could create humor out of the smallest bit of nothing. His smile was infectious. Chris' violent and untimely death has caused unimaginable grief to his family and many friends who hope and pray that those responsible will be brought to justice.
