Catherine 'Taddy' MacKay

Born In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: Paris, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: August 10th, 2012

It is with heavy hearts the family of Catherine ‘Taddy’ MacKay announce her passing on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 in her 94th year.
She leaves to mourn her daughters, Janet Miller (Bob) of Brantford and Diane Morrison (Leo) of Montreal, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband, Garvis, in 1966 and tragically by her son, George in 1967.
Having lived most of her life in New Waterford, N.S., Taddy has spent the last four years at Telfer Place Retirement Home in Paris, Ont. to be near her daughters and grandchildren. She lived in Brantford for a few years in the early 1960s having moved here with her husband and children for economic reasons, and returning to Nova Scotia in 1968 upon the death of her loved ones. She was a beautiful, classy woman who was proud of her small town roots and never strayed far from home.
Taddy was active in the Mt. Carmel CWL in New Waterford for many years, and loved to ice skate and bowl, and watch “CSI” and “Jeopardy” on tv, and made a wicked butterscotch pie. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
To those at Telfer Place who loved and cared for her, we are truly grateful. Your care and compassion will not be forgotten.
There will be no visitation. Cremation. Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Taddy’s life will take place at Mt. Carmel Church, New Waterford at a future date. She will be interred with her son, George.
If wished, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society gratefully appreciated.
Funeral arrangement entrusted to and online condolences may be made to McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Rd. North, Brantford (519) 758-1553 www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca.
