JANE MCMILLAN

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: August 13th, 2012

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mrs. Jane McMillan on Monday, August 13, 2012. Jane passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack and resulting complications at the age of 83 years.

Survived by her two sons Brian (Donna) and Chuck (Corinne) and her five grandchildren Curtis, Melanie (Mitch), Bryce, Johnathan, and Andrew.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 1989, and her brothers Tom and John Woods.

Jane married John McMillan in 1953 in Winnipeg where Brian was born. They settled briefly in Flin Flon where Chuck was born before making their way to British Columbia in 1965. In Kamloops Jane worked and did various volunteer activities. She loved watching and supporting her children in sports, and was actively involved in scouting in the 1970's which include many of the initial work parties at Camp Ruckle on Shuswap Lake.

Her Grandchildren were a source of great pride and pleasure. Watching them grow into adults she was devoted to them and spent as much time as possible enjoying their company. She enjoyed watching them play sports, playing cards or Yahtzee, and treating them to treats or dinners. Beating Andrew in Crib was a particular victory, as it didn't happen very often.

Camping in earlier years and then graduating to a trailer and over the last two decades spending time at the cabin at Lac Des Roches was her summer time passion. She was swimming even the last weekend.

Jane was an active knitter for the Royal Inland Hospital Ladies Afternoon Auxiliary and the Interior Credit Union Christmas fund, and of course her grandchildren who enjoyed her slippers, mitts and toques. She was also an active volunteer at the Royal Inland Hospital Afternoon Ladies Auxiliary gift shop.

To her family and friends she was cookie maker extraordinaire, many of which were for the United Church bake sales, her children and grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 25th 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kamloops United Church, 421 St. Paul Street with Reverend Dr. Bruce Comrie officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S., Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9 in memory of Jane.
