CATHERINE ANDERSON

Passed on: August 15th, 2012

CATHERINE “CATHY” JANE OATEN ANDERSON (nee Riddell)
June 21, 1940 – August 15, 2012
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Cathy on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK. Predeceased by her parents Dr. William Riddell and Beryl Riddell (nee Oaten). Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Albert “Andy” Anderson; children Jonathan (Yvette) Anderson and Philip Anderson; grandchildren Crystal (Shawn) Tibbetts and Matthew (Ashley) Anderson; great-grandchildren James and Rebecca Anderson; sister Mary Revell; her extended family including Tom (Marilyn) Thompson and Margaret Nelson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cathy was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a large heart for animals and loved her dogs immensely. Cathy and her border collie Gunner participated in the St. John Ambulance therapy dog program. She was also a lover of classical baroque music and was an active flutist in the Regina Community Orchestra. She was also a lifelong listener and supporter of the CBC. Cathy spent many happy seasons at her beloved cottage at White Bear Lake. It was there that she spent special times swimming, sailing, water skiing and cross-country skiing. Cathy was a steward of nature and the outdoors and enjoyed bird watching and her gardens. Never one to back down from a new challenge, Cathy’s natural curiosity and contagious enthusiasm made her a continual learner throughout her life.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the home care palliative nurses and the ward 4A nursing staff at the Pasqua Hospital. We also thank Dr. A. Vermeulen for his tenderness and caring.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, 2625 - 3rd Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 0C8 or the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143 Stn Main, Regina, SK, S4P 3G7. To
