It is with great sadness and some relief that we announce the peaceful passing of Hazel MacLaren (nee Yeo) on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Hazel was born in Souris, P.E.I., attended Acadia University in Nova Scotia and eventually settled in Calgary, Alberta. Although she lived and raised her family in Calgary, the Island was always referred to as home and she visited Montague nearly every summer to be with family, including this year. “You can take the girl off the Island, but you can’t take the Island out of the girl”.
Hazel will be greatly missed by her daughter, Cindy; son, Paul (Gwenda); and grandchildren, Justin and Josie; as well as by her Sisters, Arlene (Don), Ruth, Anne; her brother, John (Ruth); and numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Blair.
A family celebration will be held at a later date. In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, funeral services will not be held.
