On August 18, 2012, with family at her side, Jean passed away peacefully after months of declining health. Born in Bridgewater, NS, she grew up in Dartmouth, NS, the second daughter of Percy and Florence Wilcox. Always a good student and excelling in athletic activities, she enjoyed her youth in the Maritimes. During a year at Mount Allison University she met her future husband, David. They married in Montreal after the War ended, where she completed her nurse’s training at the Royal Victoria Hospital. They lived in Halifax, NS, River Hebert, NS, moving to Moose Jaw in 1953 where they raised their three children. Leaving to mourn her loss are husband, Dr. David Gass and family: daughter Sue (Ewart) Morse of Bridgewater, NS and grandchildren Christopher (Jennifer) of Lewis Lake, NS, great-grandson Max, Sarah (Robert) Gordon of Coldbrook, NS, great-granddaughters Emily, Maggie, and Keira, and Rachel (Mark) Arbing and great-granddaughter Zoë of Los Angeles, CA; son James (Deborah) Gass of Sechelt, BC and grandchildren Lisa (Deb) Smart of Edmonton, AB, and Richelle (Brock) Marr of East Selkirt, MB; and daughter Stephanie (Jeff) Crichton and grandchildren Blake (Brittany) Tremblay, Jordan Tremblay and Brodie Crichton – all of Moose Jaw. Predeceasing Jean were her parents and sister, Shirley Hope of Dartmouth, NS. The Funeral Service will be held at St.Aidan Anglican Church, 124 First Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw on Thursday August 23, 2012 at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Deacon Arleen Champion will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St.Aidan Anglican Church, the Moose Jaw Humane Society, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated. The Family is very grateful for Mum’s excellent care and support by members of the Palliative Care team, staff at Pioneer’s Lodge, and Donna’s Compassionate Care caregivers.
