Sylvia Anne David-Trider, age 64, of Dill Road, Windsor, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her husband by her side. Born on November 29, 1947, in Willington, Alberta, she was the daughter of the late Peter Thomas and Martha (Panas) David. Sylvia started her professional career with Air Canada in 1969 in Toronto, transferring to Halifax in 1972. She married the love of her life Ken, on August 27, 1977 and after 10 years Sylvia left Air Canada and became a Real Estate agent in the Halifax area for two years. She returned to the airline industry working in various positions and cities, retiring in 2003. Over the years, Sylvia and Ken travelled throughout the world on business and pleasure. Sylvia was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, Windsor and the Hants Community Hospital Auxillary. Her life interests and hobbies included playing the piano, singing, travelling, collecting fine art and antiques. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 35 years, Kenneth “Ken” Thomas Trider; her sister, Jennifer (Ken) Palylyk, Barrhead, Alberta; nephew, Eli Palylyk, Barrhead, Alberta; many close and loved, aunts, uncles and cousins, in Alberta, British Columbia and Oregon. Visitations was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, August 24, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, in the Windsor United Baptist Church, 411 King Street, Windsor, with the Rev. Wensell MacLeod (minister of the Church of the Nazarene, Windsor) officiating. A private family committal was held at the Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor. A reception followed at the Windsor Community Centre, Thomas Street, Windsor. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the special care given to Sylvia, by the Palliative Care team of Bev Lyttle and Kevin Mason; also to the nurses of Unit 200, Hants Community Hospital. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all close friends for their love and support. A memorial service will also take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Willington, Alberta.
