KOETHLER, John husband of Eileen Koethler, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK, after a year long battle with cancer. John was born on December 27, 1945, in Swift Current. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour in August, 1966, and was baptized in November, 1966. He grew up on a farm in the Dunelm area south of Swift Current and received his education at the Amphion School. He worked in Swift Current and lived in Wymark and Swift Current. John and Eileen were married October 15, 1966, at the EM Church near Wymark, SK. They had two sons, Trevor and Cory. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor. Besides his family, one of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a journeyman heavy duty mechanic at the age of 36. His whole working life was as a mechanic on farm machinery. His employers included Ralph's Sales & Exchange, Great West Ford, Agritown Farm Equipment, and most recently, Robertson Implements. His career spanned 50 years. John was an undisputed expert in his field and was identified as the "go to" mechanic when there was a difficult or challenging job. He was forced to retire at age 65, due to his health. Away from work, John loved to fish, camp, and race cars. If he couldn't be found, he would be located in the garage tinkering or building something. To sum it up, John's interests and hobbies involved the outdoors and anything with a motor. John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eileen; his sons, Trevor (wife, April Gobert - and sons, Mitch and Reese) and Cory (partner, Wendy Friesen - and children, Jesse, Jaxxon, Jagger, and Wendy's children - Tyler, Kenneth, and Desire); his sisters, Barbara (Abe) Froese, Kathy (John) Schlamp; his brother, Dave (Michelle) Koethler; and by many nieces, nephews and friends, including special friend, Darren Lindenbach (partner, Sara). He was predeceased by his sister, Mary (1944); his brothers, Peter (1949), Jacob (1955); his father, David (1972); and by his mother, Anna (1988). John had a profound impact on anyone he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Bryon Bezanson officiating.
