TELFORD – A. Locke Woolley, 65, Telford, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alexander “Alex” and Catherine Mae “Cassie” Woolley. He was a member of the former French River Presbyterian Church.
He attended the former Pictou Regional Vocational School, Stellarton, graduating in carpentry. Locke had been employed with the former Nova Scotia Power Commission as a construction foreman for 15 years. Prior to retirement in 2008, was operation supervisor with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation. Locke enjoyed working with wood, whether sawing lumber or attending to a current building project. In spring and summer, he spent countless hours in his gardens and in the fall, shared the harvest with family and friends. He and his wife, Martha were inseparable, whether spending time at the cottage, driving the Miata, watching the Leafs “win again” or enjoying the sunset, the love they shared was endless. Locke was a loving husband, father and papa.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Martha Dayle (Bowser); daughters, Sandi (Trevor) Trainer, Blue Mountain; Dr. Hope (Dr. Tim) Alderson, Kingston Peninsula, N.B.; son, James Locke “Sonny” (Amy) Woolley, Telford; grandchildren, Gemmel and Leath Alderson, Ryley and Eli Woolley; sisters, Ferne (Ernie) MacLeod, Pine Tree; Mariena Whidden, Trenton; mother-in-law, Joan Bowser, Greenwood; brother-in-law, Calvin Bowser, Greenwood; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, James Bowser.
There will be no visitation at Locke’s request. A private funeral service will be held.
