Frank Blaauwendraat
Blaauwendraat, Frank of Princeport, N.S., passed away peacefully, early Sunday morning, Aug 26 / 2012 in the Victoria General Hospital.
Born in The Netherlands on Aug 13, 1927 he immigrated to Canada in 1948 with his brothers. He worked throughout the Maritimes and Ontario, before settling in Princeport in 1952.
Frank met and married his devoted wife, Aafje Jacoba Swaart, in 1958, and settled to raise their family on Beech Hill Farm.
He lived and breathed farming all his life. Frank was a very loyal and generous man to his family and friends. He was a dedicated member of John Calvin Christian Reformed Church, and one of the founding members of its first Youth Group.
Frank is survived by his wife Co, his children, and grandchildren. Isabella Blaauwendraat-Wheeler and Guy Wheeler , Princeport, and family: Edward and Naudia Blaauwendraat-Wheeler, and great granddaughter Avah; Maria and Sean Lindsey, and great grandson Sven; William Blaauwendraat-Wheeler and Sarah Pollard; Jennifer Blaauwendraat-Wheeler and Colin James; Carissa, Dustin, Austin, and Faith Marshall. John and Krista Blaauwendraat, Princeport, and family: Justin and Melissa Blaauwendraat, Tiffany and Jander Talen, Nikita, Arjen, Joseph, and Brianna. Rudolph and Charlene Blaauwendraat, Princeport, and family: Amanda, Rachelle, Ryan, and Trevor. And his daughter, Maria Blaauwendraat of DeLier, The Netherlands, lovingly cared for by Jan (d.) and Ria VanderBerg. He is also survived by 7 sisters in The Netherlands and 2 brothers in Ontario and predeceased by 3 brothers.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Colchester Regional Hospital and the Victoria General Hospital for their warm hearted care. A very special Thank You to Colchester EMS for helping Frank to fulfill his final wish.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28 at John Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 169 Glenwood Dr., Truro, N.S.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, August 29 at John Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 169 Glenwood Dr., Truro, N.S., Rev. Dan Brown officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Old Barns Cemetery prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the John Calvin Christian Reformed Church Building Fund.
