BURTON: Bessie Lavinia Burton, age 100, of Vanguard, Sk, passed away August 17, 2012 at the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, SK. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 25 at the Vanguard United Church with James Burton officiating. The pianist was Dorothy Saunderson. Readings were presented by Pat Palmer, Tyson Burton and Tennille Burton. The Life Tribute was presented by Trevor Burton. The ushers were Jim Lawson and Martin Dykema. The interment service took place at the Burton Cemetery, Vanguard District with Gordon Burton officiating. Bessie was born in Rouleau, SK on January 21, 1912. She attended school in Rouleau and then attended Business College in Regina. She was married to Clarence Burton in Regina on March 10,1948. She worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia, Cockshutt Plow Company and Fort Qu'Apelle Indian Hospital. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Burton Homemakers, Vanguard U.C.W. and Vanguard History Book. In her spare time Bessie enjoyed reading, knitting, baking, canning food, camping and fishing. Bessie is survived by her son David and Val Burton; grandchildren Trevor and Erin Burton, Tyson Burton Tennille Burton and KaCee Maloney; great grandchildren Aleah and Emery Burton; one sister Marion Baird; one sister-in-law Jean Mountain and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence; her parents; two brothers; one sister; nine brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. In her memory, memorial donations maybe made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
