Olive Usher
THREE BROOKS – Olive Irene Usher, 89, Three Brooks, Pictou County.
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden death of Olive in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on Monday, August 27, 2012.
Born May 4, 1923 in Meiklefield, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Christena (MacCulloch) MacInnis.
Ollie is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Howard Usher; daughters, Christine (Kenny) Feltmate, Pictou; Irene (Gary) Bray, Old Post Road; sons, Jimmie (Eleanor) Usher, Lower Sackville; Sandy (Donna) Usher, Three Brooks; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Christine MacDonald, Riverton; and brother, Walter MacInnis, Meiklefield.
She worked on the family farm alongside Howard, enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers, family picnics, and was especially happy having family and friends visit. She was a 32 year cancer survivor and was very proud of having her family do the 2010 Terry Fox Walk in her honour. Ollie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pictou and a past member of U.C.W, Unit 4. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Friday from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating. Burial will be in Haliburton Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall.
