Joe Caissie

PICTOU – Joseph Albert Caissie, 73, of Faulkland St., Pictou, passed away August 27, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Shediac, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Emile and Virginia (Cormier) Caissie.
Joe played in the band, “The Atomics” for years. He had worked on the construction of the Harvey A. Veniot Causeway, and also at the Pictou Shipyard, and for the Town of Westville before retirement. He was a member of Stella Maris Parish, the Pictou Golf Club, the New Caledonia Curling Club and a social member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou, where he enjoyed playing darts.
Surviving are sisters, Stella Hall, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; Raymonde, Pictou; brothers: Emile Jr. (Laurie), Pictou; Camille (Thelma), Scotsburn; Gerald (Betty), Pictou; Ernie, Pictou; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters: Geneva, Rita, Loretta, Eva May and Helen; brothers: Romeo, Roger, Louis and Leo.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Friday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Stella Maris Building Fund.
