HAWKINS, LOIS JULIA - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on September 1, 2012, Mrs. Lois Julia Hawkins, wife of the late Mr. Arthur Beecher Hawkins formerly of Pennfield NB. Born at Pennfield, NB on May 2, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Jenny (Wilcox) Justason. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she is survived by two sons; Roger (Pam) Hawkins and Beecher (Joyce) Hawkins both of Pennfield, NB, one daughter, Karen Hawkins (Ellis Jagoe) of Fredericton, NB, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters; Marion Wadlin of Pennfield, NB and Vera Gostnell of Lansing, MI, special niece, Sandra Zarins and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Arthur, she was predeceased by one brother Carroll. Lois was a homemaker who worked beside her husband Art at the family farm in Pennfield for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a life member of the St. George Curling Club and a member of the OES Granite Chapter # 15.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service will be held from the Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield, NB on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. In Lois’ memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
