Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit on August 31st, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, Thomas Skinner aged 87 years. Predeceased by his son, Thomas (Jr). Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby (Janes), children: Ruby Skinner (Terry), Lorraine Whelan (John), Derek (Barb), Robert and Rodney. nine grandchildren: Tina, Shelley, Derek (Jr), Amanda, Kaitlyn, Kendra, Desiree, Cathy and Jason; four great-grandchildren: Matthew, Hailey, Jessica and Abbey; brothers: Sam and Ron (Blanche); sisters: Velma and Lillian, sister-in-law Ann (Clarence). Family friend Yvonne Organ as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends. The Skinner Family wish to acknowledge Rev. Ed Keeping and daughter-in-law Barb for their care and kindness shown to Thomas during his illness, also a thank you to Dr. Marie O’Dea and the medical team at the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Center. At Thomas’s request cremation has taken place, and there was no visitation. Funeral service has taken place at St. Philip’s Anglican Church on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, St. Philip’s. No flowers by request, donations in Thomas’ memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or to the St. Philip’s Anglican Church Building Fund.
