It is with great sadness that the families of Violet Marie Hillier (nee Newman) of Deer Lake Manor, formerly of Englee, NL, (March 29, 1939 – Aug. 29, 2012) announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday Aug. 29, 2012, at the age of 73 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sister Francis, of New York, U.S.A; her special nephew Barry (Cindy) Newman, their children and grandchildren Renee Newman (Darrell), Cody, Cameron and Jayden, and special cousin Benson (Nancy) Pearce; her stepchildren Nina (Brian) Hillier, Roy Hillier, Rick (Hazel) Hillier, and Leon (Cindy), eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Violet was predeceased by her husband Lewis Hillier, and parents Wilfred and Julie Newman. She also leaves to mourn a large extended family and friends. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Englee. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.
