Peacefully at home, with the love of his family surrounding him, on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at the age of 80.
Loving husband and best friend to Marilyn for almost 50 years. Dear father of Alexis Grolla (Allen) and Alison Macaulay (Donald). Beloved grandfather of Emma, Megan and Ethan.
Alex was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton Island and was the son of the late Rose and Rannie MacDonald.
Dear brother of Russell and Janette MacDonald (late Alex). Son-in-law of the late Virginia and Gilbert Ramsay. Special uncle to many nieces, nephews and special friend to many.
Alex was a proud, long time member of the RCMP. He was an avid horseman and animal lover.
A memorial service will be held at Precious Blood Cathedral on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. Cremains to be interred at the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery in Ottawa at a later date.
