It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Patrick ‘Paddy’ Ryan age 76 of Reserve Mines. Paddy is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Sheila (McLeod) Ryan. He will be sadly missed by his loving children, sons, Jack and Brian (Reserve Mines) and his daughter, Jenny (David Shaw) of Tanglewood. He was a wonderful, loving and proud ‘Poppy’ to Jenny’s children, Sean and Christian Murphy and Brian’s children, Jayden and Brieley, whom he truly adored and brought great joy and laughter to his life.

Dad was a member of the International Labourers Union and was a well respected, dedicated construction worker. He was a proud member of the Reserve Mines Volunteer Fire Dept. for 45 years. In his pastime he loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and taking drives all over his beloved Cape Breton enjoying his Irish music. He was a gentleman filled with kindness and will be greatly missed not only by his family but by many close friends and neighbours.

“Although we loved him dearly,
we could not make him stay
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best”
