Joanne Mabel Chapman (March 19, 1950 - Sept 10, 2012)- It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of a very loved wife, mother, grandmother & friend. Joanne Mabel Chapman, 62, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 in the Halifax Infirmary as a result of a massive stroke. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. Joanne was the daughter of the late Audrey (Mason) Ogden/ Rushton.
Joanne loved travelling & camping with her husband George (Johnny). They travelled all over the country, Florida & Hawaii being her two favorite places to visit. She enjoyed attending many bluegrass/country music festivals as she loved listening to the music and dancing. She also followed the local race car circuit, where she spent time with friends. She was a volunteer with the I.O.D.E. in Amherst and worked at Le Creme Boutique for a few years before they closed. She babysat many children over the years in her home as well, but spent most of her time at home as a homemaker. She really loved spending time with her granddaughters Alicia, Kristin and step granddaughter Tylicia and her grandson Austin who she viewed as the joy of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years George (Johnny) Chapman, Sons: Barry (Trudy) Chapman, John (Jennifer) Chapman, Grandchildren: Alicia Chapman & Kristin Chapman (Barry & Trudy), Tylicia O'Hearn & Austin Chapman (John & Jennifer). Step-Father: William Rushton, Sisters: Peggy (Bruce) Currie, Raylene (Wayde) Hitchcock, Colleen Mason, Charlene Embree (Kevin); Brothers: Larry (Jane) Ogden, Douglas Ogden, Greg (Susan) Rushton as well as several nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Leon Ogden & her mother Audrey Mason (Ogden) Rushton.
Joanne's Family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses & staff of the Halifax Infirmary for their exceptional care to her and her family during her stay.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, NS.
Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with K. Ruth Gamble officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date.
