Ronald Sebastian Gompf passed away September 9, 2012 surrounded by his family.

Butch was born in Hamiota, Manitoba July 7, 1952. He grew up on the family farm and from an early age had a love for fast vehicles and fun. Butch enjoyed traveling and after high school worked in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and California before settling down in B.C. It was in Kamloops where he met the Gruza-Rapley construction crew and pursued a career as a Journeyman Carpenter. After a motor vehicle accident in 2000, he retired and enjoyed the time spent with his son Sterling, riding his Harleys, gardening and gold panning. In November Butch would have celebrated his 25th A.A. birthday. Butch was one of the founding members (#3) of A.I.M. (Association for Injured Motorcyclists, Interior Chapter)

Butch is survived by his partner Wilma Vanlerberg; his son Sterling; step daughter Raya Latham; sisters, Mayanne (Geordie) McWhirter, and Valerie (Teresa) Gompf; nephews Tim (Kathy), Jeff (Melissa); Uncle Bob (Phyllis) Gompf; aunts, Dorothy (Telfer) Scott, Ann (Gordon) Bothe; as well as many cousins and extended family members.

He was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Ron Gompf, Uncle Lorne and Aunt Jean Gompf.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon, British Columbia, on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. Before the service, a Viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pritchett, Dr. Chai, their employees, the ambulance attendants, emergency room, ICU and 2 East staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the wonderful care given to Butch and the kind compassionate consideration extended to our family.
