of Bell Island. Passed away in his 85th year, after a lengthy illness, on September 13, 2012 at the Health Science Center. Predeceased by his two infant brothers, parents Joseph and Beatrice Skanes, grandson Tyler, son-in-law Bill Jackman and brother-in-law Bill Rendall. Leaving to mourn are his wife, Rose (Sheppard); children – Bonnie, Cynthia (Clayton) Vokey, Bell Island; Marilyn (Dr. James) King, Grand Falls; Joe (Cindy) Skanes, Clarke’s Beach and Pam (Terry), Bell Island; grandchildren- Krissy (Andrew), Billy, Christopher (Callista), Jennifer, Spencer, Logan, Jacob and Chelsey and two great-grandchildren Connor and Kendra; brother Edward (Sarah) Skanes, Bell Island and sister Lillian Rendall, British Columbia, as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast’s Funeral Home, Bell Island on September 15th and 16th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at St. Michael’s Church, Bell Island on Monday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations in Gord’s memory can be made to the Kidney Foundation or the St. Cyprian & St. Mary Building Fund. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and especially the Nurses on the dialysis units at the Health Science Center and Waterford Hospital.
