MacKay, Dawn Marie - 51,Central North River, Col. Co. – It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie MacKay, wife of Wade MacKay who passed away peacefully Sunday September 16, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Jean (Rae) Johnson. Dawn had a love for life and always had a positive outlook. She was ready to have fun and try anything once. She enjoyed her time with family and friends, especially at her cottage in Mt. Uniacke. Dawn was a great supporter of her daughter’s activities. A very proud soccer and hockey mom.
Besides her husband Wade, Dawn is survived by her daughters, Angela and April; her brothers Doug (Ann), Wayne (Sheila), Ian (Carolyn), Larry; her sisters, Bev McNutt, Heather (Glen) Scott, Barb Mitchell (Ron); brother-in-law Bob (Kathy) MacKay; sister-in-law Doris (Mark) Stewart; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Dawn was predeceased by her brother Brian; sister and brother-in-law Gertrude and Henry Hingley; brother-in-law Donald McNutt; father and mother-in-law Harry and Roberta MacKay.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 and funeral service Wednesday, September 19 at 2pm, all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro with interment to follow in the Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Dawn may be made in Trust for her daughter’s education fund or to a charity of your choice.
