It is with broken hearts and deep regret that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Jack MacDonald due to a motor vehicle accident on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012.
Born in Sydney and raised on Beechmount Road, he was the son of the late John Angus and Jennie Mae (MacLeod) MacDonald.
In his earlier years, he was in the Canadian Navy serving on HMCS Skeena, Sagueney, and Nipigon as a P2ER. He was a member of Branch 12 Legion, Sydney. He was employed with Nova Scotia Power, Lingan Plant, until his retirement.
Jack loved life, always liked meeting and talking with friends both new and old. He enjoyed his many morning visits to Robins and the many chats. He had a great love for animals and would be seen taking the fur kids, Chance and Ruby for their evening walk.
He enjoyed travelling, biking, diving and golfing. His garage was of particular enjoyment to him spending many hours working on his lathe, turning out many metal parts.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carol (Peters) MacDonald; sisters, Jane Ball, Leitches Creek, Lowell Gaudet, (Hugene), Oromocto, N.B.; brother, Stanley (Marion) MacDonald, Beechmount Road; many nieces and nephews; his furry pets, Chance and Ruby as well as his Robins’ friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Frank.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
