MEUSE, Francis William “Bill” – 81, of Halifax and formerly of Yarmouth, passed away at his home on September 16, 2012. Born October 28, 1930 in Halifax, he was a son of the late Joseph and Winnifred (Burns) Meuse. Bill was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Yarmouth. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father William A. Penny Council 2181 and served as Grand Knight for five years. Bill was employed with Canada Post for 30 years, working in both Halifax and Yarmouth. He served as a Scout Master for 30 years, Sunday school teacher for 15 years and an usher at St. Ambrose Cathedral for 10 years. He is survived by daughters, Frances (Charles) Hounsell, Truro; Yvonne Meuse, Halifax; sons, Joseph (Joanne), Dartmouth; William “Pat” (Margaret), Moose Jaw, Sask.; Erich (Diamond), Lawrencetown; Raymond (Mary), Timberlea; David (Mary), Comeau’s Hill; Roger, Shilo, Man.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Frances (Mannette) Meuse; brother, Harvie; four grandchildren: Jason, Stephen, Charles and Crystal. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Thursday, September 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus service at 7:30 p.m. followed by prayers at 8 p.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass was held Friday, September 21 at 2 p.m. from St. Ambrose Cathedral, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in St. Anne’s Parish Cemetery, Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau. Family flowers only, please. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Autism Society of Nova Scotia.
